Leaking Trane - trane

In four years of owning a Trane AC unit we've have to replace the coils 4 times (freon and labor cost $700-800 each time). Trane customer service is not helpful. They keep sending replacement parts that fail. That seems to keep their local dealer busy with repair business and soon will have us past the 5 year warranty. We would never recommend a Trane product.

Geeze, not to minimize your pain, but from what I have been reading $700-$800 is a steal. We are waiting for our estimate. It is expected to be over a $1000.00. Above in this thread someone complained of paying $3000.00. I would gladly trade you. But,at the end of the day it is TRANES fault we all gather here. I did read on another page that TRANE has studied the cause of their leaking problem and determined it is a chemical reaction of formaldeheyde in the home and the freon in the (closed system) copper lines. The article stated that they started using aluminum to make their coils. Good Luck!

Sounds to me like an installation issue.

I bought a teamed unit and the coil failed after 6 years at a cost of $2600.00. I was told there is no war. What a rip off. I guess the best is not the best anymore. I guess you can't stop s train when it never gets started.
