Trane Central AC and Heat - trane

I purchased a Trane heating and cooling complete system because it came with 10 year warranty from Trane. Less than 4 years and the AC crapped out. Service person reported zero refrigerant in system. Pressurized and vac tested, unable to find leak. Charged the system with over 6 lbs refrigerant. AC worked for a day and crapped out again. Service person once again could not find leak, but decided to spend time and kept searching.

The outside coil unit has a faulty design. A copper pipe rubs against the aluminum coil and ruptures the aluminum coil. Service person recommends Trane must replace entire defective outside unit. Only leaks when unit is running and VIBRATING, because the copper pipe is pressed against the aluminum pipe.

Trane refusing to replace entire unit. Will only replace coil. Spoke to New Jersey Trane Authorized Supplier, Wallwork. They are the rudest people I have ever encountered. They hung up on me 3 times. I called Trane Customer Relations and they are not interested in getting my faulty unit back to their engineers.

The entire outside unit was bought as a set and was factory assembled. Now Trane wants the service person to assemble the coil on my front lawn.

Trane sucks. I will never ever buy anything Trane ever again. I should have bought Carrier or even Rheem and I am sure I would be cool and comfortable today. Instead I am sweating in dangerously high temperatures.

DO NOT BUY TRANE.

I too have a trane that the tubing rubbed a whole in the line and all the refregerant leak out. My unit was only 1.5 years old. Trane would not replace the unit and I had to pay for all of the repairs that cost over $200.

Wow, I had a similar situation this past week. Low pressure warning light came on and called service on Sunday (24 Jun) of all days. Found the system was 5 lbs low and thought it was due to a slow leak at the fitting inside going to the coil (Oil found there). Charged it up and all was working fine. Next day A/C was struggling to keep cool and by 7:30 pm, low pressure warning came on again. Called them out again and it was low, as he charged again to detect leak he heard hissing sound inside OD unit. Took panel off and found a small copper tube coming out of the manifold had been bent over and was touching the in-line dryer (I have pictures) Over time, vibration of the tube rubbed a hole in the dryer which caused a huge leak. For sure a Trane manufacturing defect. Had the tube been bent the other way it would have never rubbed. Hoping to get Trane to reimburse the freon used.
