We decided against purchasing a Trane HVAC system because we could not get a straight answer from Trane regarding part numbers. We asked 3 local Trane dealers to bid on a replacement central heating and cooling system for our house. We got 3 quotes, each with different part numbers for the same model number. We called Trane to ask what the difference numbers meant, but we were told they could not answer our question!!! The furnace was a two stage variable speed unit, nominally in the XC80 model group with a model number of TUD2C100 with some additional, varying digits. The AC was a variable speed unit, nominally an 18V model with the actual model number starting with 4TTV8060A but with several different characters after those. Consumer confidence and trust in corporations is at an all time low. So we are going with a Carrier system. Bye bye Trane!
